Miracles are so commonplace now, wonderful to be seen. Criminals are so commonplace now, terrible to be seen.

Take these, to the fire. Watch them burn… Take these, To the fire. Watch them turn… Teosinte Teosinte Watch these, seeds of stone- open like a flower. Watch these, hungry bones- stop and devour… Teosinte Teosinte Teosinte…

My bird has many voices but she won’t sing today. The war has taken her voice, and the ones she loves away. Her heart is torn and broken. Her mind is far away. The sky is cracking open, and it looks like rain today, it looks like rain today. My bird has many voices. Each is a sound so dear, and when the war is over birds will gather far and near, they’ll gather far and near.

I was on the Wrong Side of History. The Captain said we’ll set sail for the Coast of Africa, “Boys we’re off to make our Fortune! The Natives here won’t lend a hand, So we’ll bring the Bosses Ones they can Command.” Along the Frontiers, They are bound to Fail. Along the Banks we hear the Women Wail. But we will not put out the Fires of Industry. The Cost is worth the Crime, We can’t afford to let them Be. Fifty Nights, And still no End in Sight; No Common Horrors or Cruelty In the Slavers’ Trade. The Storm was Just Retribution, for the Business of the Colonies. The Captives took the ship, And killed Us begging on our Knees… Along the Frontiers, They are bound to Fail. Along the Banks we hear the Women Wail, But we will not put out the Fires of Industry. The Cost is worth the Crime, We can’t afford to let them Free.

The Devil Is A Charmer The devil is a charmer, He smiles and dances the samba. You better run baby, run baby, run baby, run! He slides in through your doorway. He’ll talk you into letting him stay You better run baby, run baby, run baby, run! The devil in a sauna, Around him swim the piranha… You better run baby, run baby, run baby, run!

When we feel small, when we feel low~ Beside the Beautiful Ones, we’re at Zero. But We can always make’em pay, though- There’s one now, let’s trip her up and rip apart her halo~ oh how we hate- Everyone above Us, Everyone above Us oh how we hate- Everyone above Us, Everyone above Us__________ When we feel small, which is most days Fortune smiles on the Others but she never looks Our Way~ oh how we hate- Everyone above Us, Everyone above Us oh how we hate- Everyone above Us, Everyone above Us__________

girl , you got to dance girl, you got to shake up the world girl , you got to dance girl, you got to shake up the world when a body meets a body, when a soul meets a soul, when a body meets a body there’s a little more hope… you got me in a trance girl, you gonna lift up the world you got me in a trance girl, you gonna lift up the world when the lonely meet the lonely when the doubting is shut out when the lonely meet the lonely there’s a reason to shout Shake up the world, Shake up the world. Shake up the world, Shake up the world. Shake up the world.

What is the cure for this disease? Too many buildings, not enough trees. What is the cure for this disease? Too many allies and no enemies. What is the cure for this disease? Too many people sending sympathies… What is the cure for this disease? Too many prayers keep us on our knees.

if you’ve got the sun-wake-ups, and the symptoms are well-known- like a song that’s sung in a mannered key -a figure walks alone. and he’s how you begin to describe secret sin he’s a fantastic , terrible lie off the shores of remorse, we plot another course towards a possible terse reply~ he balks as if angels mock our seats of power and comfortable, lazy minds~ of the three future stars that define our cause, I’m inclined to favor number 2~ she’s a broadcast of light, a subversive delight, a streak of red in a dead field of blue~ and when Fate is alone and laughing and turning a mild cough into a touch a flu we ignore the disease instead we feel so pleased that the symptom has made it’s debut~ he talks as if angels mock our seats of power and comfortable, lazy minds~

La Muerte Verde a stranger to this land- the rain it never ends the thought was to get paid: rubber trees and black gold. but mornings are just a horror; a green and unending shroud drowning ,rotting, and dying~ we thrash and scream out loud. I call to You instead but there’s no one there to hear my mind is full dread the green-eyed death appears but mornings are just a horror a wet and unending shroud drowning, rotting, and dying~ we thrash and scream out loud- the jungle claims all who dare to tame her~ insatiable, no one can rise above, her love is all…

We Haven’t Been Introduced You’re a wretched angel with a silent temper, Indian Summer field of colors spinning like a record. Cast off your melancholy clothes, taste the sunshine while you can. Dissolve into a careless pose, a million roads that lead nowhere. Ring the alarm! Sound a truce! For we haven’t even been introduced. I’m a copper wire twisted ‘round a seashell, Useless and uncommon, kept beside an inkwell. A conversation that is trapped, inside a clockwork figurine. A love completely off the map made of smoke and gasoline. Ring the alarm! Sound a truce! For we haven’t even been introduced.

My bird has many voices but she won’t sing today. The war has taken her songs, and the ones she loves away. Her heart is torn and broken. Her thoughts have turned to gray. The sky is cracking open and the rain is here to stay, the rain is here to stay. My bird has many voices but she won’t sing today. The war has taken her songs, and the ones she loves away, the ones she loves away. My bird has many voices. Each is a sound so dear, and when the war is over birds will gather far and near, they’ll gather far and near, they’ll gather far and near, they’ll gather far and near.

about

Cumbias And More Psychedelic Original Sounds or C.A.M.P.O.S. is a project by Joshua Camp (Chicha Libre, One Ring Zero). Cumbias, and more specifically the psychedelic era of cumbias peruanas are the beating heart of the band's sound. Add the cinematic music of Ennio Morricone, the circus soundtrack compositions of Nino Rota with the production style of the Latin Playboys, and the musical mission statement of the group begins to take shape.

The deluxe double vinyl, Miracles & Criminals, is available on Peace & Rhythm Records.
